SADTU supports SACTWU's march to SARS headquarters

The South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU) supports the march by
the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union's (SACTWU) to the
South African Revenue Service (SARS) offices in Pretoria on Friday, March
10, 2017.

The march aims to raise awareness of the negative impact of illegal imports
of clothing, textile, leather and footwear to the industry in South Africa.

As SADTU we fully agree with SACTWU that SARS should take responsibility for
the effective enforcement of import duties and inspection of imported goods
and customs. This laxity in the enforcement of import duties and inspections
has led to the collapse of local industries, causing massive job losses.

The SADTU leadership will join the march tomorrow to pledge our solidarity,
guided by the slogan of our Federation: "An injury to one is an injury to
all". An injury to SACTWU is an injury to SADTU.
