MortarBoardCULong.jpg Just Thinking Out Loud Zuko Phandle, Communist University, 28 June 2017 The fact that the economy gets irritated when government puts in place measures to facilitate processes of equity; that should tell you something is not right. The fact that business in general but the big guns (mines, banks, construction, etc) in particular get irritated when government puts in place measures to facilitate process of fairness in ownership, reasonable remuneration for workers, that should tell you something is not right. The fact that the "investors" dictate on how the country should be run and yet where they come from we don't have a say; that should tell you something is not right. Without being viewed as defending or promoting corruption, the fact that the big guns are unsettled that should mean something. It could either be genuine stress that things are bad and costing their investment or that they have been shaken to the extent that the conditions on the ground are not favoring their selfish interests of monopoly. The vanguard of the poor and working class can never at any stage be a sweetheart of the big guns because they both serve different constituency with different, one to emancipate or liberate and the other to press as hard they can in ensuring maximization of their profits. The people's voice can never be a sweetheart of the group that champions and defends the interest of the minority that holds majority of not only the economy but also means of production (including land) which are significant to the economy and the wellbeing of the people as well as sovereignty of the country. It is thus my view that the attainment of the total emancipation of the people and equality for all will not just come on a silver platter. However, equally the corrupt, thievery and thuggery elements are not assisting but rather equally are monopolistic. What is to be done? Everyone appears to be masters of knowhow of the struggle, thus creating animosity amongst each other and in the end the people suffering. Perhaps, it is high time that we do a brutal, frank and honest introspection and reflection, in order for us to diagnose ourselves because many diagnosis on the conditions on the ground and society in general and the space we operate in, in particular have been done. However, with little or none at all being done in that from what the diagnosis and prescriptions provided for our indulgence in order to cure. These introspection and reflection would require a lot and not just for purposes of compliance and reporting that it has been done. It could lead to some needing to own up that "I am the cause or symptoms are as a result of my actions, therefore I don't deserve I have been getting, etc". However, the question is: are we equal to that task? Further, the society would need to also say, we are willing to put some pause and tighten belts for purposes of ensuring that we all contribute in this. However, can the society sustain that after so many complaints of inequality and inhuman conditions some find themselves in? The business would definitely feel the dent as there may be no flow of business transactions and somehow funding may need to come from somewhere. However, is the business patriotic enough to say, profits can be parked, we have a country to build? I am just thinking out loud, forgive me if you disagree, it is within your constitutional right. I remain. Zuko Phandle --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus -- -- You are subscribed. This footer can help you.
