Not at the moment. Is TCP overhead really that big a concern?

I am considering writing some code to address the del.icio.us API, and I wanted to use persistent HTTP connections so as to avoid the overhead of TCP connection setup and teardown. But the del.icio.us server uses HTTP/1.0, and it doesn't go along with the "Connection: Keep-Alive" header. Am I correct that there is no way to maintain a connection for a series of API calls?
