Hmm, I'm not sure how this would need authentication, per se. Is the
concern here about privacy - ie. you don't want me to necessarily see
who's bookmarking your blog?
But actually, thinking of authentication brought this to mind: My
profile has a "homepage URL". I know that that's just for publicity
right now, but I could do cool things with an authenticated API
method that returns the last 15-30 bookmarks that have arrived with a
prefix of that homepage URL.
This would limit the scope of just what sites I can search for - but
I don't care, because I just want to look for my blog anyway. On the
other hand, the limit might let you guys do some static caching or
cronjob rendering for these calls since it's limited to known
registered profiles.
Modulo of this, I'd really love to see an RSS feed as a persistent
search on something akin to Google's "site" keyword prefix. So,
maybe something like this:
http://del.icio.us/rss/site?q=http://decafbad.com
Then, return all bookmarks whose URLs are prefixed with http://
decafbad.com in an RSS feed. On my end, I could just accumulate
these and sort/fold/spindle as needed.
Either of these would serve what I'm looking for just as well or
better than multiple per-URL requests.
