There will be a quiz! :-P

Part of the quiz will be "do you want me to write emails like this?"

Our next feature, bug linking, now includes privacy. Minimally, this means
that we need to be able to handle a parent-child relationship for OEM. Here's
an example. Let's say a bug represents a problem that affects components
produced by two separate companies. These companies should not know about each
other. We should have a parent bug that OEM can see, and that links to two
child bugs, one for each company. OEM can see both company bugs. The
companies can only see their respective bugs.

There may be other scenarios we have to support. That's what Francis knows now.

The Teal team (Curtis) will probably be working through November. Julian's
team (Red?) will be done in five weeks or so; then Deryck's team (Orange?) will
have a project; and then we will come in after Deryck. Francis estimates this
as October.

In regards to the Yellow sprint, we are over budget right now for this quarter.
Francis thinks we ought to be able to have the sprint next quarter, which
would mean October. That might work out well, if the schedule above has any
connection to reality. I emphasized that it would be really useful to know a
yes or no (and a "only after date X") sooner rather than later, which he
understood. We'll see. His first priority for sprint funds is to have a
January Thunderdome, which I understand, so we'll see if we can have a Yellow
sprint too.

Danilo, hey, pay attention! :-) I spoke to Francis about the "[h]and-off
translations import queue review to maintainers" work. He is very concerned
about the critical bug rate increasing rather than decreasing. However, he and
I agreed that what you are doing is valuable, and that we should focus our
efforts to get it done, and not try to have you mix critical bugs within your
workflow.

Practically, then, we agreed that you could have a two week timebox to try to
get the work done, and that you could use another man-week of Yellow engineer
time within that time (you just need to recruit some of us, as I said on our
call today!). So, you have through July 29. Only QA should happen for this
translations work after July 29. If there are remaining tasks, we make bugs
for them, and get some time during the next bug rotation.

I suspect that is not thrilling to you, Danilo, but I hope it is somewhat
positive.

Speaking of translations, I added escalated translations bug 788685 to the
queue. Francis was under the impression that this would not be too hard. If
Danilo verifies and is willing to mentor, then somebody should grab it!

Finally, only tangentially related to Francis because I told him about it too,
I'll leave just a bit after our team call tomorrow to hopefully get a couple of
new teeth. Sadly, this body replacement part will have no special powers, to
my knowledge; no Bionic Man for me. AFAIK, I'll be back to work afterwards:
it's just local anesthetic.

OK, bye, TTYL. :-)
