Don't (some? many?) PowerBooks support auto-MDIX? It could be that it's a crossover cable when it should be straight-through, or vice-versa. Aha, I even found a list that somewhat supports my theory: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42717 If your PB falls under that description (G4 or later), then it likely only works due to the auto-MDIX capabilities. Rewiring an end (if you have the requisite tools and skills), adding a crossover adapter to one end, or replacing the Cat5 cable (if it's a non-complicated installation, i.e., not through walls) ought to make it work for the PS3. Off-hand, I know ThinkGeek sells an adapter: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/tools/7470/ Jima _______________________________________________ yellowdog-general mailing list [email protected] http://lists.terrasoftsolutions.com/mailman/listinfo/yellowdog-general HINT: to Google archives, try '<keywords> site:terrasoftsolutions.com'
