  I have been trying to get wireless to work for
  weeks now and never succeeded in getting any
  further with connecting to my Airport network
  using static IP addresses. I have given up on
  that now. 

  I think you can use the Network Admin under 
  Applications to activate the wired Ethernet 
  (eth0) and deactivated the wireless (eth1).
  That is what I did (my system is wired to 
  another Mac).

  I really hope that one day there will be a 
  decent description of how to connect to the
  wireless router using a password.
