The problem is that in the XConfig file, it has VertRefresh 75-60 (should be 
60-75).  Apparently both 4.0.1 and 4.0.0 have this problem - really strange 
that it's not fixed in the new versions.

Anyway, I think there may be an even easier way to fix it - type "setup" at the 
root prompt.  It will give you a bunch of options, one of which is to set up 
XWindows again.  I did this, and it worked great!
