If you are using gnome or kde, perhaps you can define a keyboard shortcut to eject the cdrom. Maybe pbbuttons will help also. On my iBook, I believe that pbbuttons takes care of those 'special' keys. And, there is a command, 'eject', that you could probably use to eject the cdrom tray.
