The Xserve by default prints messages to video, not serial. The serial output must be invoked by both firmware and the kernel in order to gain full RS232 control. W/out the proper kernel, the machine will hang, as you have noted. This is one of the features that Y-HPC offers, a kernel config for serial output. Let's take this conversation off-line/direct as it is more related to HPC than newbie. kai > I don't know why I didn't see a thing related to installation progress. > I'm not so aware in MAC product line, probably I hadn't activate/setup > terminal connection in a right way to get access to firmware. > > I've look through HowTo form the page already and didn't find any related > to my problem, could anybody refer me to installation HowTo/FAQ (may be > with G5 Xserver specific) ? > > Best regards, > Dmitry Afanasyev > Motorola GSG/Russia > Business Center T4, > 12 Sedova st., 192019, > St. Petersburg, Russia > E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > > _____ > > From: Afanasiev Dmitry-ADA015 > Sent: Thursday, March 23, 2006 12:31 > To: '[email protected]' > Subject: Yellow Dog Linux 4.0.1 installation instruction > > > Hello all, > Where can I get installation instruction for Yellow Dog Linux 4.0.1 ? > > Best regards, > Dmitry Afanasyev > Motorola GSG/Russia > Business Center T4, > 12 Sedova st., 192019, > St. Petersburg, Russia > E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > > > !DSPAM:442950f1306896272918391! _______________________________________________ yellowdog-newbie mailing list [email protected] http://lists.terrasoftsolutions.com/mailman/listinfo/yellowdog-newbie
