Hi Troy:
Your query appears to be just a bit narrower, which is a good thing. But it is still a bit way too wide to distill into a specific answer.

You appear to be searching for information regarding how YDL is used and in what environments and for what kind of work. You appear to be mostly interested in art, perhaps video and other related work. Unfortunately for you, the term "production", means different things in different disciplines and has itself become meaningless as a comparative reference as different disciplines do not define work which is in fact productive, in the same way.

One way around this conundrum is to provide you with a link available on the TSS website where you can choose for yourself the area which interests you. If you click upon Edu (Education), a list of institutions will appear, a few with associated links. I'm sure that the art departments of those institutions can address your questions more successfully than I.

The closest I personally come to anything regarding art within YDL is utilizing Gimp, xine (http://xinehq.de/), some mathematics which generate fractals which indirectly are related to art and even music. Hopefully you'll get more ideas or answers by contacting those institutions.

Best wishes....

Thank you!

The art department here has a Mac server that until recently, due to equipment bias or maybe other reason, who knows, did not house the server and its LaCie
RAID storage device properly in a cooled data center.

I am just curious if someone is using YDL in a production environment. I also started out with Macs years ago but find X to be a bit of a strange beast. I've installed YellowDog onto an older G4 and consider it better than Ubuntu for the job. I saw its RH roots since all our production-level servers are
RHEL.

Maybe my question should be related to a Mac server running YDL connecting Mac clients or workstations to it. Does anyone have a similar environment or
setup?
