Hi, I've been having some problems getting a USB flash drive recognized by my iBook. I found this how-to on the subject:
<http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/solutions/ydl_general/usb-device.shtml> However, when I follow the instructions, I'm a little confused by what I get on the screen. Here's the output I get in a terminal: [EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# tail -f /var/log/messages Aug 7 20:14:45 localhost su(pam_unix)[1119]: session opened for user root by higg0008(uid=500) Aug 7 20:15:17 localhost kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 5 Aug 7 20:15:18 localhost kernel: scsi3 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: Vendor: Flash Model: Drive UT_USB20 Rev: 0.00 Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: SCSI device sda: 1999872 512-byte hdwr sectors (1024 MB) Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: sda: assuming Write Enabled Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: SCSI device sda: 1999872 512-byte hdwr sectors (1024 MB) Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: sda: assuming Write Enabled Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: sda:<7>usb-storage: queuecommand called Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: [mac] sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4 Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi3, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Aug 7 20:15:23 localhost kernel: Attached scsi generic sg0 at scsi3, channel 0, id 0, lun 0, type 0 Aug 7 20:15:24 localhost scsi.agent[1216]: disk at /devices/pci0001:10/0001:10:18.0/usb1/1-1/1-1:1.0/host3/target3:0:0/3:0:0:0 Aug 7 20:15:24 localhost udev[1280]: creating device node '/udev/sda' Aug 7 20:15:24 localhost udev[1281]: creating device node '/udev/sda1' Aug 7 20:15:24 localhost udev[1282]: creating device node '/udev/sda2' Aug 7 20:15:24 localhost udev[1283]: creating device node '/udev/sda3' Aug 7 20:15:25 localhost udev[1284]: creating device node '/udev/sda4' Aug 7 20:15:25 localhost udev[1286]: creating device node '/udev/sg0' Any suggestions? -PRH _______________________________________________ yellowdog-newbie mailing list [email protected] http://lists.terrasoftsolutions.com/mailman/listinfo/yellowdog-newbie
