I'm not sure exactly what you mean here, but I fully support anything
improving Pango.

It'd be interesting to see whether the same Layout code could power
both xmonad and yi.

That's great; I might add the xmonad/yi layout idea to the list.

By the way, I don't think I made it fully clear in my last post. I
can't participate as a student (I have a job); I just think it'd be
great for Yi.
