You're probably going to have a lot of trouble installing Yi with Gtk2Hs. You can try installing it without the Gtk UI (i.e. Pango) with `cabal install yi -f-pango`.
In theory, there's a Cocoa UI, too, but I'll be surprised if it compiles today.
