OK, I get it. I will be more careful in correctly restricting patches to the 
machine targeted, if there are machine dependencies.

Certainly wrongly.  For example the Guacamayo distro includes BSP layers from 
meta-yocto-bsp, meta-ti, meta-raspberrypi, and meta-intel.  BSP layers should 
always scope their changes to impact only the machines they care about.
