I'm currently using OSS4 in my box. Remember I have a fairly special sound  
infrastructure, but it works more or less fine. I've been able to make it work 
on XMMS and Kaffeine but I don't know how to do it in KDE Control Center. I 
have done almost every possible combination all doomed to failure. Besides, I 
miss a way to change the default sound device. I'm currently using 
/dev/oss/envy24ht/spout, so if I remove the /dev/dsp symlink and re-create it 
pointing to  /dev/oss/envy24ht/spout, everything works fine with no need of 
cofiguration (but KDE) till the next reboot that I have to repeat the process.
