'master' is now version 1.3.2-rc1 It needs a good workout as there has been major restructuring of roots, banks and instruments.
The first thing you'll notice is that yoshi takes longer to start up if you have lots of root directories and banks. However once loaded these are much easier to access, which is especially significant for MIDI control. Also yoshi is handling data more efficiently so the overall memory footprint is about the same. Roots and banks now have fixed IDs which makes them far more predictable for MIDI access. You will see the new bank IDs in the drop-down list. At first run, these will be set in the same alphabetical order as before. Currently these can only be changed by manually editing the config files in ~/.config/yoshimi, but GUI control will be added later. Roots are fully editable already. Each yoshi instance has its own directory 'map' and current root/bank value, although at first opening they will take on the same settings as the main instance. These settings are remembered so when you re-open the same instance, you'll get it unique settings. With this in mind, you can also now call for a specific instance to be opened. If you add a new bank in one instance other instances will temporarily be out of sync, but not destructively - you simply won't see the new bank - a refresh will put this right. Instruments in banks but without numbers have gone missing again temporarily :( I don't know why yet. It will have to be sorted before full release. However banks with *only* unnumbered instruments do now show in the bank lists. So far I've only had the chance to test this on one 64bit dual core Intel machine - so results on any of our many other options would be gratefully received! -- Will J Godfrey http://www.musically.me.uk Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
