My problem was the opposite. See below

I just retested and the problem has gone away. I had to do a re-install of
the OS recently and that must have fixed the issue. I know Safari was
crashing a lot before I did the re-install and now it's rock solid.

Try testing in a new User and see if that fixes the issue for you. If yes,
then the problem is in your User's folder. If no, then it's your base
system files.

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. You'll need to set
up a test Entourage account or move your Identity to Shared so you can
access it from the new User.

Here is what I was seeing:

Insert a URL in brackets into an HTML message
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/> or without brackets
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/.

When I click on this link, it
adds %3E to the end of the URL in Safari  leading to 404 page not found.
  http://www.entourage.mvps.org/%3E

In a plain text message the
problem does not occur, but in an HTML message it adds the %3E or end
bracket (>) depending on browser used. In Safari, it's
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/%3E, but in Firefox it shows as
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/>
