<snip />
- the output is either too much or too little (depending on whom you ask
and what time of day it is)
Some work of how the logging is done and controlled, to many levels.
somthing like :
yum --silent : No output
yum -v : Extra verbosity
yum -vv : Debug verbosity.
I like the python logging, but this
self.verbose_logger.log(logginglevels.DEBUG_1,"Some Debug message")
hurts my eyes.
Hello all... I've been lurking sometime as I was wanting to submit a
patch along these lines, so I thought I would add my two cents.
I've been running a cobbler repository which syncs on a nightly basis,
and I wanted to improve it's output to only include the newly downloaded
packages, rather than every file it sees. To do so, I created a 'batch
mode' flag to cobbler's reposync command. However, I learned that much
of it's output is actually coming from yum. I developed a patch that
would add a 'batch mode' to yum that would give a level of output in
between the standard output, and 'silent mode' which already exists.
I haven't updated it in a while, but if you are interested, I'll update
& send it along. I can't remember which it was--cobbler or yum--but, one
was not using the python logging module which would have made it
cleaner. I was hoping that would get changed before I submitted my patch.
