 Yeh, I think we could remove it long term. But I'd much rather have it
in short term. so we don't get weird bug reports with a traceback
of .fetchone() failing.

 I get about 0.05 second increase for "yum provides", about double with
the *-source repos enabled but that should be fixed anyway if it affects
a real code path (i.e. move excludeArch).

 Seth is going to change createrepo too, so this isn't the only change.
