There are already plans to add groups commands to the new version of yum-cron; 
they should eliminate the need for you to hack around the configuration 
scripts.  Also, the way the new version of yum-cron sends emails is completely 
different from the old version, and should go a long way toward reducing 
verbosity and unnecessary messages.
