I kind of assumed that we'd obsolete fastestmirror soonish, do you think it's worth keeping it around? If it's just the connect() profiling that might be useful ... is there anyway we could work that into the current urlgrabber code? Maybe after we have 2 downloads going we could start doing a bunch of head requests to find+drop dead servers? Esp. of note though is that the connect() hack in fastestmirror doesn't take into account the private flag in metalink, and doesn't work with proxies.
