I've added a prototype of my idea as described in my last comment, if we want to do it this way, we have to bump the sql-schema-version, I guess. I'm not completely sure if this is the way to go, but given the fact that the number of entries in the _fix_cache table should be *very* low over time this should not be a big performance issue, and works well.
