Hey Mike. I have very faint recollections of movie ANNIE HALL from my high
school days around the mid70s, but which never really made an impression on me.
No, I'd say that Woody Allen never really made an impression on me either, or
his films
Replying to that attempt on supposed similarities between Zen and any/all
things Middle Eastern, I can't help but be reminded of that very typical
mentality from that part of the world, which I myself find odd sometimes. I
know of some fine examples, but one of the oddest centres around the figure
Nasreddin Hodja. Also, I was once watching the SOPRANOS and there was some
Jewish old fellow there who said something like...
...'as the Talmud says'............
As Mel says,"Ugh"....and it could have been Christian, Muslim, Druze, or
anything Middle Eastern, and I would still say,"Ugh. Works for others, just
don't pass it on to me"...
Don't anybody get me wrong, because I'm always in awe whenever I watch some
biblical epic on TV such as THE THIRTEENTH DAY(The story of Esther, Olivia
Hussey). Film director Cecil B DeMille made me cringe with his work 10
COMMANDMENTS(starring Charlton Heston), but I was a practicing
fundamentalist Christian(who even made some stupid comments on Buddhism
back then) then. These days, I would watch 10 COMMANDMENTS, SAMSON AND DELILAH,
KING OF KINGS(in fact, I'm getting a copy of that later..it was so well done by
Samuel Bronston), and many others. The pageantry and overall grandness with
these old Hollywood biblical classics are just too incredible to describe in
words. It just doesn't do them service to utter such words...(but I did
here...*grin*). Lastly, I would visit the Middle East if it was a safe and
reputable tourist destination
The BIG 3 faiths of the Middle East are great and even awesome...from the
outside. Would I turn once more toward that direction? Heck, no
Buddha be praised

Mel,
I take it you're no big fan of Woody Allen? Watch any of his movies. Highly
recommended!
