Bill!, Always good to see you there.
(the older posts may enter the doors of your perception via the trickle-down phenomenon. I doubt they are lost to you forever. I think your roving eye may catch a rustle of color, or ear a strain of music or noise, here and there through the archive. It's just a matter of time, like the evolution of beings and plants in the universe). (I was reading some old posts at the website yesterday, and really enjoyed them; hungry for "new" material, I must be). As I see that now-skinny, further narrowing crescent of moon each morning, I know that the next new moon is not far ahead, and, with it will come the Lunar New Year. I wish you a good one, there! I wonder if it is celebrated in the culture. We hear that the coming year is to be the Year of the Snake. I'm still thoroughly enjoying the Dragon year, which is my year, and my year to "begin life again", since the cycle has repeated this year of the 12 animals and 10 colors: the 10 colors come from the 5 elements, and each element may be Yin or Yang, making 10 colors. Arithmetically, the Animals are thus modulo-12, and the Colors modulo-10, thus, in sixty years, a Black (Water) Dragon Year will "come 'round" again as a Black (Water) Dragon Year, ...and it did. Five complete cycles of Animals, and six complete cycles of Colors. As I say, I'm enjoying it, here. I believe it's said that the Chinese suppose that, since the cycle begins anew each sixty years, then at age 60 a person "begins life anew". It's indeed felt that way to me so far this year, in many ways. It is total delight, even in the challenging bits. And so on to a new Lunar Year soon. On Monday, I think, we will have the start of the Grey (Water) Snake Year. Now I'll just "have to" go out to a Chinese restaurant to read the information about the properties of Snake Years and Snake People on the placemat at the table setting. Should be delicious. ;-) With cheers and best wishes from beneath desert skies, --Joe --- In [email protected], "Bill!" wrote: > > I was 'off-grid' for a couple days and I'm too lazy to read all the posts, so > if there's anything anyone wants to bring to my attention please do so. > Otherwise - WHATEVER! ------------------------------------ Current Book Discussion: any Zen book that you recently have read or are reading!
