joe...everywhere there are folk trying to say they know the way... what do you want me to say...? merle
Merle, Commenting evidently on Teaching, Merle wrote: "and those who write books, give lectures and rave on while others listen on hand woven mats nodding yes... " Verse of the Han (inscribed on the signaling board in the dojo) has it: Completely freed from yes and no; great emptiness charged within; no questions, no answers; like a fish, like a fool. Merle, if you go to explain it or tell another person about it, you find you are like a fish, like a fool. This is why Zen teachers do NOT "rave on", as you write. Maybe you're talking about intellectual teachers, or other traditions. Zen teachers give inklings of how to practice. They cannot teach you the contents of awakening. In this world, they are... "Like a fish, like a fool". Yet, if you want to learn their Art of opening the eyes, there is a way! This is why they make themselves available. Do they use tricks to attract you, or push you away? I won't say! --Joe > Merle Lester wrote: > > lest we forget we have our own ideas .. > > let's nurture and develop ourselves instead of feasting on the past... > > and those who write books, give lectures and rave on while others listen on > hand woven mats nodding yes... > > the zen is an experience...you must do > > you must taste yourself.. > > one size cap doeth not fit all... > > feel free to do and embrace! > > merle
