joe.. did you check this link?..
i did what did the description of the book say?... so why are you forever urging me to seek the musty dark halls and sit on handwoven mats to listen to goobly gook? with diamond ladies and ruby cheeked monks?.... merle Zen people Everywhere, Books are not to the point. But fun is. A fun book is a book of drawings, some of the venerable characters with word-balloons coming out of their mouths. Some of the drawings are suitable for scanning, and posting, and for framing (maybe for farming). The fun book of drawings teaches Zen history, too. And gives a touch of the spirit of Zen, as is is, and has been, practiced. Someone has put out such a book. The authors are practitioners, and were lately disciples of the late John Daido Loori, Roshi, of Maezumi Roshi's lineage. Many of the drawings are "keepers", and pretty funny, and smart (coming from deep practice). We all know this material, and it is fun dipping into the family album anyplace. If you don't know the material, it is a good introduction that you will never forget. Don't let the humor bias you: THIS IS SERIOUS! The cover of my copy of the book looks different, and mine is printed in Sydney by Writers and Readers, a mark of Unwin Paperbacks. I say it's a win-win, not an Unwin. Amazon shows and tells: http://www.amazon.com/Zen-For-Beginners-Judith-Blackstone/dp/1934389064/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361985934&sr=8-1&keywords=zen+for+beginners I've lived with this book 16 years. Time it got a job! Edgar will have comments about Comic Book Zen, which I ascribed to him, originally. Cross-eyed Bear we must bear, and life goes on. The book is very affordable "Used", and may have the (even funnier) cover that my copy has. This is my first book recommendation of the Trimester. --Joe
