Merle and Edgar,

I find myself siding with Merle here, although I've seen this debate on zen 
sites before.

'Practicing' can mean 'doing over and over to get better' - like "I'm going to 
the shooting range to practice with my AR-15".  But it can also mean just 
'doing' - like "I practice abstinence."  Also, some professions are called a 
'practice', like a sugeon's practice.  I think we all hope surgeons practice on 
cadavers so they can practice on live humans.
