joe..
hitler wished to enter to art school he was an artist at the time doing painting..he was reject by the art school... however he went on to create the greatest performance art show the world has ever witnessed.. i am not a fan of g.w. bush..if he wants to paint well and good... as for churchill not a fan of his either..you do know he suffered from depression... yes painting certainly can be a form of meditation.. however as you see with hitler..his meditations led to a wickedness the world is still reeling from... art is for everyone we are all capable of enjoying what it has to offer... how is your own painting going joe?.. cheers merle Merle, Do you think there's any connection with Zen in the fact that some world leaders have taken up painting after their duties in government were over? Is it a kind of meditation practice for them? Geo. W. Bush's library and museum were dedicated yesterday in Texas, and Barbara Bush in her speech mentioned Dubya's taking up oil painting following his eight years of the Presidency, and she mentioned Winston Churchill's doing the same thing at about age 40, and mentioned Churchill's book, PAINTING AS A PASTIME. I ordered a copy of Churchill's book, in a new hardcover edition to be released in mid July, here. A long time to wait! But I look forward to the little 98-page book arriving in our mid-Summer desert heat. Merle, have you read Churchill's PAINTING AS A PASTIME? Do you have a copy now? --Joe PS There are some fine B&W photos on the Web showing Churchill at the easel wearing his painter's gown, working on a canvas indoors. Great!
