yes edgar..we all know this..and we do not dispute this..we are... correct me
if i am in correct group..
trying to explain to you that in zen practise meditation one leaves the
reasoning mind to rest..
one sits and that is all one does...
resting the mind of intellect...
for christ sake are you thick or something else?
stubborn i'd say... and always wanting the last word
and always wanting to be right
 smacks of fascism edgar
 for the 100th time
sit and sit and only sit!
 and i getting it through?
our must i resort to the zen stick?

Merle,

Merle asked a good question to explain what I mean by reason, logic and
rationality.

I use these in a very general sense to mean using mind to correct understand
and engage with the actual logical structure of the world of forms. This covers
the everything that people do in their daily lives if they do it correct in
world. It can be as simple as knowing you have to hold a nail straight and hit
it on the head with a hammer to drive, to understanding the quantum koan.

If you as a computational being don't compute your understandings and actions
in the world correctly you don't function in the world correctly. To the extent
you do function correctly you are being reasonable, logical and rational.

No abstruse hidden meaning. It's simple common sense. It's correctly
understanding and engaging with what I call 'the logic of things'.

In Merle's case it's knowing how to plant a flower correctly or that she has to
dip a brush in paint before she can put a color on paper. That's using the
rational mind.....

Everyone does it all the time better or worse. To deny it is denying ZEN!

Even Buddha has to put his spoon into his bowl to eat. That's using the logic
of things...
