JM,

I agree with Braden that the view of the world and ourselves is "incomplete"
even as given thus far by the high development of European and other-Western
science and technic over a few centuries.

It's still very early-days when it comes to Science, on the Earth.

Chinese science in classical times has been very highly developed, also, and we
read about it in the West especially in the writings of Joseph Needham, in his
SCIENCE AND CIVILISATION IN CHINA, Cambridge 1954, et seq., series (7 vols.).

Braden speaks about a potential, and I know he happens to be right.

One must not be half-baked or go off half-cocked, however. One needs a
Wisdom-Tradition to couch this in, and to practice it. It is not an extension
of mere intellectual "activity" -- nor is it Science -- which helps a person
discover this, and develop oneself.

The ex- Scientist admits he went to monasteries, nunneries, and lamaseries, and
saw some native peoples in the Americas with a long history of tradition.
Great: this shows that there is no Wisdom outside of the traditions that, and
people who, carry it.

We don't need a scientist to tell us this.

But I'm afraid the ex- Scientist wants somehow to bring alive this wisdom to
have some sorts of effects in the world: "naturally". But, this is very
dangerous.

One must open to Wisdom before one can do good (via True Compassion).

Before that (opening), one is taking shots in the Dark: That is "extremely*
dangerous, and quite foolish. It's NOT what the people in the monasteries,
nunneries, lamaseries, and native cultures did, whom he claims to reveres, and
use as models.

Maybe he is a usurper, then, and another mere exploiter. I just put forth the
possibility.

I'd urge caution: he appears to be trying to pull teeth from elsewhere, and
insert them into your gums. The roots won't "take" that way: You must grow
them yourself. Beware!

Caveat emptor.
