A little bit of a additional tip:

Using it for Exchange (or any kind of mail) means you lose security functionality of Spam and brute force attacks.  (Exchange will only see the load-balancer IP's at this point).

To be honest thats not something you would want.. specially in bigger organizations when processing alot of mail.

(i do believe their including NAT forwarding in the v3 version but.. till then.. i would opt for Windows Load-balancing as a temporary scape goat until Zen has this function :-))

Hi,

Which version of Zen LB are you running? If you’re not at the latest v2, first step is to upgrade to the latest version (I found out that you need to go to the last version by downloading it manually rather than via apt-get).

If your Zen LB servers are virtual, make sure you are running the VMware (or other) virtual tools.

Subject: [Zenloadbalancer-support] farm stops

Hi guys,

Hope you can help with the following please.

We implemented Zen Loadbalancer this weekend for exchange 2010 Cas/Hub roles in an array.

The Zen Load balancer is setup as follow:

One nic “eth0” with a vlan configured on eth0.

We have 5 farms running for exchange with two real servers on the vlan.

All farms are configured as follow:

Round Robin: persistence client-time

2049 Max number of connections in Virtual IP

1000 max number of simultaneous connections

10 max number real ip servers

Every hour or so when the connections reaches 50% load the farm stops and I have to manually start them again.

What can cause this?

I checked the logs in the administration console but cant see anything why it stopped.

I was forced to move back to dns round robin which I don’t like at all.

Help will be much appreciated.
