I am new to the list and new to zen lb. I was hoping I could ask a few
questions to the list. We currently have two older F5 big-ips in a HA
setup and we're looking to replace them very soon with newer hardware.
There are some features of the F5 that we use and I can't tell if zen lb
supports them. The big-ips sit between our provider's routers and our
servers, so 100% of our server traffic passes through them. All public IPs
are on the big-ips and all of our servers have internal IPs.
1. Can the zen lb support a direct NAT between a virtual/public IP and an
internal IP? We need this to support our mail server running on the inside
that sends out mail, so that mail originating from one specific internal ip
leaves out of a specific public ip.
2. We have a default SNAT setup as well, so that any originating traffic
inside that's not mapped get's routed out of the default snat. Allowing
the lb to act as a sort gateway/router providing internet access to
servers, ie making dns queries, etc. The big-ips share an internal ip, so
that we can setup our servers to use this ip as the default gateway.
