II don't know what kind of requeriments you have for LB, but the
architecture you defined looks fine, the best option for my point of view
is that the LB is the gw, with this you can configure all kind of farms
with success
So, to design this what server configuration would be desired to install

You don't need a specific configuration, the load balancer will do the work
automatically for you.
