Dear,
I would like to see an additional load balancing algorithm beeing implemented.
I have created the code for the pen daemon and posted it already in this form
before (februari 2014), but for the pound daemon I do not like the code that I
have written as it is not optimal.
The idea would be following algorithm, that can be called "sticky" server. All
connections will go to one server only as long as this one is alive. As soon as
it is dead, the next available server will be used for all connections. When
the first server comes back alive, all session remain on the second server and
also new sessions remain on that server until that one goes dead.
It is comparable with the priority algorithm, with that difference that the
server with the highest priority that is alive will always get the new
sessions. And this is not what I want. All servers are equally important, but
no matter where in the list, the single server that is handling connections
must remain the only server until that one goes down. At that point, selecting
a new one can be based on priority or just round robin fashion.
Thank you,
Steven.
