Hi ZLB list

We have an odd issue that we could use some help with. We have been running a single ZLB system for some time with the following config:

internet <--> firewall (192.168.1.1 ) <---> L3 switch ( 192.168.1.20 ) <---> (192.168.1.18)ZLB(10.11.12.1) <---> real servers

The firewall has the following route:

10.11.1.0/24 gw 192.168.1.20

The L3 switch has the following route:

10.11.12.0/24 gw 192.168.1.18

IPs above for illustration purposes only. We use the listed real servers above for L4xNAT purposes. There are also other targets/real servers on the 192.168.1 network that we use with tcp/udp farms and a number of other VIPs used for these farms. All works fine here.

So we decided to cluster as follows:

zlb01 - 192.168.1.18 ( original IP address )
VIP = 192.168.1.21
zlb02 = 192.168.1.19

We setup zlb02 with outside ip 192.168.1.19 and inside IP with 10.11.12.1 ( as on zlb01 but disabled ). No other config.

On zlb01, we choose VIP 192.168.1.21 in cluster interface on zlb01 and save. Then set zlb02 hostname + IP address, and save. Then when we add password for RSA connect to zlb02, zlb01 becomes unavailable because it has taken the IP address of zlb02 ( ie. from 192.168.1.18 to 192.168.1.19 ).

I have tried restarting both systems but the moment I setup the cluster, zlb01 changes its IP address to the zlb02 IP address ( 192.168.1.19 ). Any ideas?

Can I also confirm that if this is working normally, I should change the 2nd route in my L3 switch from the physical zlb01 address ( 192.168.1.18 ) to the VIP address ( 192.168.1.21 )?

Kind Regards
