We have seen this with Novell. Basically, pysnmp does not like the packets coming back from a Novell box. I have reported the problem to pysnmp along with a test packet but I haven't heard anything back. I haven't yet figured it out on my own.

I don't know why you would see this for a linux bux. If you can do a manual snmpwalk of the linux box and you see these values, please let me know.

If a box fails to respond to a batch request for OIDs, zenperfsnmp fetches the same OIDs in individual requests to weed out the ones that are failing.

For late-model Linuxen, you may find that the snmp server is only exposing a very small part of the SNMP tree. I know this to be true for Fedora Core 5.
