I am also in the exact same situation. Possibly to throw more light, the
exact spot where this really stops is as shown by arrow bellow
Unfortunately I am not good at python so I could not sort out the zenbuild
script enough to figure out why it fails there.
Any help will be welcome, I also thought this would be really cool since it
incorporated most of the other individual tools I like so much

After fighting tooth and nail with this thing trying to get it to
install, the installer hangs on "ZentinelPortal loaded at zport". If I
CTRL-C out of it, it breaks and reports "unable to create the initial
Zenoss object database". I'm using the root account on MySQL 5.0.22,
running on Gentoo 2006.0. If I start Zenoss, it sort of works, but
none of the devices/manufacturers are populated like in the vmware
demo, even though I see them in the XML files. Based on what I tried
out in VMware, this product looks very cool, but I'm quickly losing
patience in fighting to try and get this thing installed. Can anyone
help me along?
