Hi Ivan,
I did an install of Zenoss from svn on an ubuntu image (6.10) without
any problems.
I didn't have to mess with perl at all.
After I did this:
# apt-get install mysql-server-5.0 python-dev gcc g++ make
subversion libmysqlclient15-dev5.0
everything worked as expected.
Is it possible that you have added packages since your 0.23 installation
which are now detected by the build system? That is, if you didn't have
a perl environment before, and now you do, some package in Zenoss is now
trying to configure perl support.
You may want to try deleting the build directory in your install
directory to force a clean build.
