Jason, I ran into a similar problem on a system and it was solved by the following MS knowledge base article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q267831&; It claims this only happens on FAT32 volumes, but mine were NTFS. Make sure you have events like the ones mentioned in the article before you perform the steps.
