Open a web browser on *any* other machine and go to http://VMHOST:8080
where VMHOST is the hostname or IP the vm image was assigned.

Subject: [zenoss-users] Virtual Appliance Text Only?

I just downloaded the Zenoss Virtual Appliance and it seems to be text
only.

I have tried it under VMware Server on a WinXP laptop and under VMware
Workstation 5 on an HP XW4300 running Fedora 7. It starts up OK, finds
an IP address and gives me a localhost login prompt but after I login it
just gives me a text prompt.

I have searched the filesystem for startx but it is not found. I also
tried changing the default runlevel in /etc/inittab from 3 to 5 and
restarting but it didn't make any difference.

The next step in the instructions says to open a Web browser but as I
can't get X running in the VM this is not an option.

Did I overlook something really obvious?

Many thanks for any help.

-Paul
