I have a number of systems, many of which offer services over SSL. This
includes LDAPS, IMAPS, HTTPS and several others.

I've already got a generic Nagios script which connects to a host on a given
port and checks the expiry date on the certificate it presents. What I'm
trying to do now is tie this in with ZenOSS - preferably with minimum effort.
I don't want to set this up for every host which is running a service over SSL
or set up a performance template for every service which may be running over
SSL and bind it appropriately or I'll be here for the rest of the week and I'd
have to remember to repeat the appropriate template bindings with every new
host I add to ZenOSS.

It seems to me that the obvious thing to do is tie this in with a TCP service
monitor. Once the service monitor has established that a service is running on
a given port, try running my SSL certificate checking script against that
host/port to get the certificate expiry date and warn if it will expire in the
near future. I can see how I can set up a command against a TCP service - but
I can't see if/how I can get ZenOSS to re-run this command regularly. Can this
be done and if not, is it worth suggesting it as a feature request?
