Hello,
i am new to zenoss and somehow cant seem to get the initial setup working
correctly.
I am managing mostly debian machines and have tried the zenoss vmware image,
2.1.70 and 2.1.2. All of them with the same results.
To test which works best I have installed snmpd on 3 machines and the zenoss
client on one machine. Additionally there is one network printer on my network
that had snmp activated by default.

I start with a fresh install, add a network and then start "Discover Devices".
The Result is a list of all my active ips in the network.
But all machines except the network printer have "No Device" and "No Interface".
When I look at the device list, i see 3 devices that have been added (2 of the
3 debian machines with snmp and the printer). As Device ID the 2 computers have
their dns name, the printer is not in the dns and so shows its ip as device id.
All 3 Devices show the correct IP under "IP".

I cant seem to find a way to match them. Manually adding devices makes them
show up on the device list, but in the network the same ips still show up
without a device. I also tried the hint in the FAQ
(http://www.zenoss.com/community/docs/faqs/faq-english#HowdoIloadalltheIPaddressesinanetworkasdevices)
but this had the same result.

I was almost ready to accept this, but unfortunately this way the devices do
not show up on the network map and the google maps line feature does not work
either...

Can somebody hint me on what i am doing wrong here?

Tia,
Pat
