Zenoss 2.2 supports installation and use of both old-style and the new python
egg packaged ZenPacks. All newly created ZenPacks are created in the new style.

You can continue to use old-style ZenPacks with Zenoss 2.2 and any 2.2.X
releases. Zenoss 2.3 will probably not support the older style ZenPacks
however.

Upgrading from the pre-2.2 core ZenPacks to the new egg-packaged core ZenPacks
should not affect your current data and configuration. All performance
templates, data sources, daemons, etc should continue to function the same as
before the upgrade.
