Greetings all, this is my first post so be gentle ;-) We have been using zenoss in our test environment for a few months now and have been very impressed. The decision has now been made to put it into live and I've just stumbled across a problem that is going to give me no end of grief.
We are monitoring Windows Services on a few individual servers and it's been working just fine. I simply browse to the OS tab, select the Windows service I want to monitor and change the value of "Monitor" to true, easy. I also noticed I could set the property of "Monitor" of an individual service under /Service/Winservice and sure enough, that service will be monitored on every Windows server I have, which is great. My problem is this. We have about 300 Windows servers which fall into various categories (Domain Controller, File and Print etc..) I want to be able to monitor certain services depending on which category the server falls under (i.e: DNS, Netlogon on Domain Controllers and "Server Service" on the File and Print machines). I've been looking for quite a while now and I cannot seem to find out how to monitor a group of Windows services at anything other than the entire /Devices/Server/Windows level, OR, the individual machine (under the OS tab). I have tried to create another device group under /Devices/ called "Domain Controllers" but I cannot seem to find how I monitor a group of services on that container. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or at least tell me if it can/can't be done as I'm pulling my hair out right now! Thanks in Advance. :) -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=20267#20267 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
