After the issues with using zenbatchload with ping devices, I crafted an xml file and tried importing devices that way. I wish I could say this wasn't an effort in frustration right now.
It appears that you can't even import ping-only devices using the standard xml dump/load mechanism. This is a severe problem considering that well over half my company's devices that need monitoring are devices that only need and can handle ping monitoring.
