I am trying to get SNMP traps to work. I'm working from the Admin
Guide (http://www.zenoss.com/community/docs/zenoss-guide/2.2.3/ch11s15.html
).
After accomplishing all the previous steps (with some difficulty,
notes below), the expected result in 15.2.7 does not present itself:
the trap is not translated. The summary of the event remains "snmp
trap 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.13.991" and the string "1.3.6.1.2.1.1.6" on
the details screen is not translated into sysLocation as expected.
Please advice what I am missing, and/or what steps I can take to
provide more information to resolve this issue.
The following are notes to improve the Admin Guide documentation:
15.2.1 - The command line parameters are missing a space between
"1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.13.991" and ".1.3.6.1.2.1.1.6" which caused me
quite a measure of hair losss before figuring it out.
15.2.2 - Could be more specific that it is referring to the example
MIB text above. It seems to be referring to the output from the
previous command.
15.2.6 - The Details tab actually shows four lines rather than the
expected single line:
Code:
1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0 42907115
1.3.6.1.2.1.1.6 Device in Annapolis
1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.4.1.0 (1, 3, 6, 1, 4, 1, 2021, 13, 991)
community public
15.2.1(2) - It could be specified that these commands need to be run
as the Zenoss user.
15.5.2(2) - There's no seperation between what is input and what is
expected output. Also, the actual output is much larger than
indicated.
15.5.6(2) - As noted above, this does not work as expected.
Starting with the zenhubified zentrap daemon in 2.2 you'll need to
restart the zentrap daemon to have it reload the OID mappings. As for
the documentation feedback, it's great! Would you mind creating a
ticket with this info?
