I'm using Zenoss 2.2.4 on SuSE 10.3 Linux.

I tried to configure SMTP e-mail, but each time I hit the test link, I got an
SMTP 535 error (Authorization Failed).

After some poking around with a sniffer and a base-64 decoder, it looks like
the SMTP username is being truncated at character 21.

In other words, if my username (as set in SMTP Username on the Settings tab) is
[EMAIL PROTECTED], then the sniffer would show that [EMAIL PROTECTED] is all
that is being sent in response to the SMTP server's request for the user ID
(SMTP code 334)

I tried to figure out what scripts or commands were being called by Zenoss so I
could further isolate the problem, but I wasn't successful.

So, is there a limit to the length of SMTP username? What is Zen doing under
the covers to send e-mail (i.e. what utility is it calling, how can I see
exactly what arguments it is sending, etc)?

Thanks.
