I've had the same problem. Zenmodeler stops in a cycle and you get zenmodeler heartbeat failures. In my case there were just to many devices in Zenoss and the Disk IO became the bottleneck. CPU stuck in wait states because Zenoss is very disk intensive. Setting up the server in RAID 10 solved the problem.
