I encountered the same problem - created a test template for a specific device, successfully tested it and now I want to move it to a device class. I solved the problem by moving the template object in Zope:
1. Open http://zenoss/zport/manage 2. Locate your template for a specific device 3. Select it, click Copy 4. Locate the device class where you want to move your template to, open rrdTemplates object, click Paste Now you should have your template under device class.
